Hi there, I’m Paul, I’ve been hooked on keeping aquariums since I won my first Goldfish ‘Moby’ at the fair when I was 8 years old.
I wanted to look after my new buddy as best I could, and not find him belly up after just 2 weeks like so many of my friends had done with their fish, so I spent all of my allowance buying every Goldfish care guide book available at the time. This was in the days before the internet had the huge wealth of information it has available now (I’m really giving away my age here). I’ve always been a bit of a geek and like to know as much as possible about things I’m interested in, some would say I get a bit obsessed!
With everything I learned, I managed to keep Moby until he reached the ripe old age of 15 years old before he departed to fish heaven.

I find keeping aquariums super relaxing and can sit and watch my aquarium for ages as the world goes by (…or until my wife gives me a list of chores to do!!). I also love to go snorkeling whenever I can and discover as many new fish as possible, even though I was scared as a child by the opening scenes in Jaws!
I want to share the knowledge I’ve gained over the years, so you too can get the maximum enjoyment out of your new hobby and give your new pet(s) the life they deserve.
As there’s a ton of unhelpful misinformation online, my aim is to cut out all the BS and provide accurate useful information. If you want to know the best way to look after your aquatic pets with no-nonsense, clear, straight-to-the-point help guides and product reviews, you’re in the right place.
I don’t claim to be a marine biologist or a veterinarian, I’m just an average Joe who loves caring for aquarium animals.
